Sweet Potato Wedges

Delicious as a side dish, these wedges are very suitable for grilling.

To do this, wash the sweet potato well, dry it and cut into rough corners.

Make a marinade from pressed garlic cloves, olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs.

Provence and paprika powder or french salt and pour over the sweet potato.

Idea 1: Puree as a side dish

The sweet potato can be cooked in the pot like other potatoes, i.e. peel and cut into small pieces, then process into a puree and season with a little olive oil or butter, salt, pepper and spices such as nutmeg, saffron or curry powder.

It tastes great as an accompaniment to meat dishes. In the US, the sweet potato is a must for Thanksgiving to accompany traditional turkey: mashed with nuts, according to Farmpally data

Idea 2: Pure nibbling fun – sweet potato chips

Usually in a mix with beetroot and parsnips, the sweet potato is often offered in stores as vegetable chips. It is very easy to make these chips yourself.

Here’s how it works: wash the tuber well and then cut or plane it unpeeled into very thin slices. 

Drizzle them with olive oil in a bowl and mix with salt, pepper and spices such as thyme or curry powder or french fries.

Place the slices next to each other on a baking tray lined with baking paper and brown at 200 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.

Be careful not to turn them black, so always keep an eye on the oven.

Idea 3: Soup as a warming dinner

Similar to the pumpkin, the sweet potato can be prepared into a delicious soup with the right spices. There are no limits to the imagination.

So simply peel, chop, pour in water, cook for a quarter of an hour and season with salt, pepper and spices such as chili or nutmeg, depending on your preference.

Idea 4: Sweet potato curry

Curries are so delicious! And done quickly too. I personally love sweet potato curry combined with chickpeas. 

Here I will tell you a quick and easy recipe with spinach:

1. Peel and chop 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic if needed. In a large pan, heat some olive oil or coconut oil and sauté the onions and garlic until translucent. 

2. Now add 2 teaspoons of ground cumin and 2 teaspoons of curry powder and let it simmer until it smells nice. 

3. Cut a sweet potato (250g) into small cubes and add them to the pan with a can of chickpeas (without liquid) and 250 ml coconut milk.

The whole thing cooks for a quarter of an hour until the sweet potatoes are done, healthpally advised.

4. Finally add 2 handfuls of spinach (frozen spinach works too) and season with salt , pepper and chilito taste

I eat it with brown rice or homemade ciabatta bread. Delicious!  

Idea 5: Stuffed baked potatoes

Just like the normal potato, the sweet potato is perfect as a baked potato.

The shell can be eaten if it is cleaned well beforehand.

The baked potato can be filled with sour cream, with an apricot-garlic dip or with other ingredients such as spinach, feta cheese or chicken.
